Our gracious thanks and appreciation go out to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Department and the schools in Soquel and Aptos and especially Deputy Steve Christensen the School Resource Officer at San Lorenzo Valley High School and members of his team, Deputy Justin Bare on loan to us from Soquel and Deputy Joe Clarke on loan to us from Aptos as well as Mr. Brian Mercer, Dean of Students at San Lorenzo Valley High School for their tireless and effective investigation and quick resolution leading to arrests in connection with the arson at the San Lorenzo Valley High School Library this past weekend.

In so many ways their efforts, working with a Warrior Spirit and Serving with Heart, are emblematic of the good work of so many others throughout our school community and the broader community beyond. As we take pride in them, we also take pride in ourselves and our community. We are moving forward thanks to acts of heroism and service both small and large and the incredible generosity, heart, soul, and spirit of the San Lorenzo Valley and our friends and neighbors both near and far. Thank you all!

  • A fund has been set up, checks and donations may be made to "SLVUSD - Library Fund" and may be delivered to the District Office or any of our school sites or mailed to: SLVHS, 7105 HIghway 9, Felton, CA 95018
  • Donation Checks are most helpful because they are easiest to target toward specific needs in the library recovery process.
  • We have already received donations in excess of $5000. Thank You!
  • In addition to these donations the Community Foundation has generously contributed to replace our librarian's entire work station

Administrators have converted a classroom adjacent to the library into a study center as a place for students to study and use computers. It will house three staff members who worked in the library.

Arrangements are being made to move three portable buildings onto the campus in four to six weeks. Two will be joined to form a temporary library. The third will be used to house textbooks.
